What we collect

FapNoFap collects the minimum information needed to run the service:

  • Your email address (used only for magic-link login. We never see or store a password)
  • Your country, auto-detected from your IP address at signup, used only for the country leaderboard
  • Your timezone, detected from your browser, used only to figure out where your day boundary falls, so a check-in always counts for your today, not a server's
  • Your daily check-ins (held / relapsed) and the dates you logged them
  • Your current and historical streak counts
  • If you record a relapse, the optional trigger category you pick (stress, boredom, urge, social media, loneliness, other). This is private to you, and it's never shown to other users. It only ever appears publicly as a single anonymous aggregate count across the whole community, and only once total reports pass 50
  • Your answer to the one-time "what brings you here" prompt shown after signup (or that you skipped it), plus the date you were shown it so we don't ask again
  • If you enable push notifications, a device subscription token used only to send you reminders
  • If you send or receive an anonymous peer encouragement message, we store the message text and timestamps. This is only to make delivery work and to enforce the one message per day limit. We never routinely read this content. The only time anyone at FapNoFap sees a message is if the recipient reports it, so we can review what happened.

Sometimes nobody is currently eligible to receive a message. In that case, we hold your message privately for up to 7 days instead of telling you there's no one to send it to. If someone becomes eligible during that window, it gets delivered to them automatically. You will always just see "sent," whether it went out right away or was held first. If 7 days pass with no eligible recipient, the message is quietly deleted.

  • If someone reports a message they received as abusive, that message's content is sent to us for review so we can act on it
  • If you use Urge Mode, which support path you picked (Breathe, Move, or Distract) and when. This is write-only. It's never read back, never shown to you or anyone else, and isn't linked to your check-ins or streak in any way
  • If you signed up via someone's referral link, which account referred you, set once at signup and never changed afterward. This only powers your own private "people you've helped" count and is never shown to anyone else
  • Whether you're subscribed to the optional weekly summary email

What we don't collect

We do not collect your real name, phone number, physical address, or precise location. We do not require any personal information beyond your email to use FapNoFap.

How your data is used

Your check-in data powers your personal streak, calendar, and the country-level leaderboard (shown only in aggregate, with individual check-ins never shown to other users). If you're subscribed to it, your check-in history, streak, and relapse-trigger categories are used to generate your weekly summary email. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.

Where your data is stored

Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) and served via Vercel (hosting). Both are reputable infrastructure providers with their own security practices. We do not operate our own servers.

Your controls

You can log out at any time, and unsubscribe from the weekly summary email with one click from any digest email. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app itself. There's no need to email us or wait, it happens immediately. Deleting your account removes your check-ins, streak, relapse-reason history, push subscription, and profile. If you've already sent an anonymous encouragement to someone, deleting your account doesn't retract a message they've already received, but it's no longer linked back to your account in our systems.

Cookies and local storage

We use minimal local storage on your device to keep you logged in and to remember if you've dismissed the install prompt. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
